Festival-Contest for Opera Singers
THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL-CONTEST FOR OPERA SINGERS DEDICATED TO THE MERITED ARTIST OF RUSSIA, PEOPLE’S ARTIST OF THE REPUBLIC OF SAKHA (YAKUTIA), INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS LAUREATE, LAUREATE OF I AWARD OF THE INTERNATIONAL P.I. TCHAIKOVSKY, A.S. ADAMOVA-AFANASIEVA
1.1. Founders of the First International A.S. Adamova — Afanasieva Festival-Contest for Opera Singers (hereinafter – Festival-Contest) are the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Ministry of Culture and Spiritual Advancement of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
The host of the Festival-Contest is the Autonomous Institution D.K. Sivtsev — Suorun Omolloon State Theatre of Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
1.2. Goals of the Festival-Contest:
— Representation of the name of the first and only laureate of I award of the ХII International P.I. Tchaikovsky contest for performers in the Far East and Siberian federal district to date, leading opera soloist of the Autonomous Institution D.K. Sivtsev — Suorun Omolloon State Theatre of Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (hereinafter – Suorun Omolloon State Theatre of Opera and Ballet), the merited artist of the Russian Federation, People’s artist of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aitalina Adamova — Afanasieva in honor of Golden Jubilee of the diva;
— Support of young and talented opera singers, assistance in their career;
— Enhancing the value of classic opera art in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia);
— Mainstreaming musical and theatrical art.
1.3. The Organizing Committee of the Festival-Contest prepares, organizes and arranges the Festival-Contest (hereinafter – The Organizing Committee).
2.1. The contest will be held in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for the first time, from 19 till 23 April 2019. Frequency — once in three years, in spring.
2.2. Festival-Contest program:
19 April 2019 — in the morning: Registration and contestants’ draw.
(Friday) — in the evening: the premiere of Giuseppe Verdi’s “Il Trovatore”
20 April — I round of the Festival-Contest
21 April — Orchestra rehearsal
22 April — II round of the Festival-Contest
23 April — Gala concert rehearsal
(Tuesday)- in the evening: Grand closing of the Festival-Contest.

2.3. Current opera singers of any voice type, working in music theatres, theatres of opera and ballet, freelance singers under contract both in Russia and abroad can participate in the Festival-Contest. Age limit is up to 35 at the moment of the contest.
2.4. Participants need to fill in an electronic application on the official website of the Theatre of Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and send to an e-mail: email@example.com
The application is submitted from the moment of receipt of the letter until 1 April 2019 inclusive.
It is mandatory to submit the copies (scanned) of following documents:

All participants of the Festival-Contest will receive an official invitation with the date of arrival to the Contest.
In case of candidate’s refusal to participate in the Festival-Contest, the documents will not be returned, and the registration fee will not be reimbursed.
2.5. Festival-Contest consists of two rounds in Yakutsk and on the stage of Suorun Omolloon State Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Closing concert of the Festival-Contest laureates is without remuneration.
All pieces must be performed by heart, in the original language.
The order of performances of Festival-Contest participants will be drawn by lot prior to the first round and will remain the same for the second round.

2.7. Procedure for conducting the Festival-Contest:
I round (Elimination) – performance with the concertmaster
II round (Final) – performance with the symphony orchestra of Suorun Omolloon State Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
Closing concert of laureates and diploma-bearers of the Festival-Contest and the closing ceremony of the Festival-Contest.
Contestants’ auditions are public and free. Entrance to the Festival-Contest Opening and Closing — by tickets and by invitations.
The contestants will be given classrooms and time for rehearsal on the stage (according to a schedule), as needed – concertmasters (for a fee)
Larisa Abisalovna Gergieva — the merited artist of Russia, Artistic Director of the Academy of Young Singers of the Mariinsky Theater (St. Petersburg), North Ossetian State Opera and Ballet Theater, member of the International Association of Vocal Experts.
Contest Organizing Committee announces:
Grand prix — __250 000_________roubles and the title of the Laureate;
I prize — ____ 200 000________ roubles and the title of the Laureate;
II prize — ____150 000_________ roubles and the title of the Laureate;
III prize — ____100 000_________roubles and the title of the Laureate;
Honorary diploma and the title of the Diplomat.
Other state organizations, commercial, public or creative organization may establish a special and additional award in agreement with the Organizing Committee.
The Jury has a right to award the best concertmaster of the Festival-Contest with special diplomas and prize money.
The participants or sending organizations pay all expenses related to visit to the Festival-Contest for the First and Second rounds (round trip, accommodation and, daily allowance), including their concertmaster.
The Organizing Committee pays to the Laureates and Diploma-bearers who advance two rounds:
— Round travel expenses in the territory of the Russian Federation from the place of residence to Yakutsk (economy plane ticket);
— Food and accommodation (2 nights).
Contestants refusing to perform for any reason are responsible for travel and living expenses in Yakutsk.
Festival-Contest participants will not get remuneration both for their performance at the contest and any further usage of recording and broadcasting of these performances.
Laureates and diploma-bearers of the Festival-Contest must perform at no cost during the closing concert of the Festival-Contest.
The form signed by the person wishing to participate in the Festival-Contest is the evidence of acceptance of all mentioned conditions.
